The History of McLaren
Founded in 1963 by New Zealand racing driver Bruce McLaren, the company transitioned from Formula 1 racing to road-car immortality in 1992 with the legendary Gordon Murray-designed McLaren F1—a central-seating, gold-foil-lined V12 masterpiece that held the world's fastest production car title for over a decade. In 2010, McLaren Automotive re-launched in Woking, creating the groundbreaking P1 hypercar and class-defining 720S.
